Hotep and Greetings,
Two thousand and nine has proven to be a year of growth and change. Change can take us out of our comfort level; but without change, there can be no real growth.
Look at how we have grown!:
- Khepera’s five year renewal by the School Reform Commission (5/13/09)
- AYP in 2008-2009 school year
- The addition of the entire annex building #100
- The increase of the student population
- Successful administration of placement tests to all in-coming grad K students
- The revitalization of the Wazuri Parents’ Association
- Saturday PSSA Prep classes
- The Voices of Khepera
- Theater Arts Club
- Spring Open House for perspective families
- M’siki Accelerated Science Program
- Reading Under the Stars
- Africa Day
“To whom much is given, much is expected.” We are thankful for all the many ways in which the Creator has allowed us to grow. In the spirit of Umoja, we must all work smarter and harder to insure a great academic school year. This school year promises to be a stellar year because of the commitment and dedication of the staff, parents and young scholars. We have several new and exciting initiatives, new facilitators, new supportive staff, and sixty new students. So what else is new at Khepera?
- 5 new classrooms in building #100
- A new 29 passenger school bus
- Revised math and science curriculum
- New textbooks
- New science lab kits
- Spanish course
- PE course
- A supplemental writing program
- SRA program for emerging readers
- Computer Literacy course
- 30 additional computers
- Saturday Classes for Skill Recovery in Reading and Math
- A new roster including recess for K-2 scholars
- A new play area for the K-2 scholars
I am excited about all the wonderful initiatives that will be implemented this school year. Together, along with the blessings of the Creator and the genius of our ancestors within; we will do miraculous things!
