As a new school, Khepera needed a school pledge. 
However, we did not want a neutral school pledge. We wanted

          a school pledge that reflected our appreciation of Afrikan history
and culture, one that reflected our gratitude of

          the struggles our ancestors endured for us to be where we are today. 

Additionally, we wanted a pledge that celebrated that we are an Afrikan-Centered school.

We stand tall today on the shoulders of our courageous ancestors.

We are the keepers of our rich and glorious heritage.

We are the keepers of our ancestors’ hopes and dreams for the future.

We will respect ourselves, each other, and our environment.

We will overcome any obstacles because we have
the genius of our ancestors within.

We can and will excel, because excellence
in all we do is our only option.
