ANKH WS SNB
In 1975, Dr. Jacob Hudson Carruthers, otherwise known as Baba Jedi Shemsu Jehewty went to Senegal to meet the great Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop who inspired him to not only continue studying Nile Valley civilization as the cornerstone of Afrikan-Centered education, but to study the literature of KMT and to master the process of translating the ancient language known as Mdw Ntr (hieroglyphs). Through his research and activity from the Kemetic Institute, which he founded, Dr. Carruthers would impact Afrikan-Centered education in Chicago and across the country. One of those contributions is the Ankh Ws Snb, now slightly modified by our school. There are common themes found in the literature of KMT. Ankh, ws, and snb or life, power, and health are very common among those themes. Dr. Carruthers developed the Ankh Ws Snb from those themes. Khepera Charter has used the Ankh Ws Snb as a thematic frame for each of our trimesters. The first trimester is Ankh Ws (Life and Power), Wajah Snb (Prosperity and Health), and Djed (Strength and Stability).
Ankh Ws Snb May you have all Life
Wah Jah Djed May you have all Power
Khet Nbt May you have all Health
May you have all Prosperity
Wab Nfrt May you have all Stability
And all things
Pure and Good
Mi Kheper-Ra Djet Like the Rising Sun Forever
Shem-Hotep May you walk in Peace
At closing each day we remind our children about the importance of living the princples of
Ma'at through the affirmation SKR MA'AT.
Skr Serudj-Ta Ma’at Nefert
Shem Wat Tpa Wr
Iri Djet Ma’at Ankh Djet Ma’at
Mi Kheper-Ra, Htp Skr Ma’at
Our mission is to restore the Earth to its rightful balance.
We will walk in the path of our great ancestors.
Always do Ma’at and always live Ma’at.
Like the Rising Sun, we are at peace in the mission of Ma’at.
