Greetings Prospective Families:
Welcome and thank you for your interest in Khepera Charter School.
Khepera Charter School is an African centered K-8 school. We are housed in a beautiful state of the art campus on Germantown/Allegheny neighborhood right behind Temple University Hospital. Our modest population of 450 students comes from all sections of Philadelphia.
Our culturally infused rigorous standard based curriculum sets us apart from other charter schools. Khepera was founded in 2004 and has not only made AYP consistently every year since 2005, but has also achieved tremendous growth in our unique program. With the introduction of SPI rating last year, Khepera Charter School was one of the few charter schools in Philadelphia that made the grade.
In addition to the core subjects of Mathematics, Reading, Science and Social Studies, Khepera offers Science Enrichment, Physical Education, and Visual Arts . The Rites of Passage program offered to grades four through eighth ensures that our students are not only prepared academically but are equipped with tools and self awareness that enables them to navigate life beyond Khepera.
Character building is an integral part of our curriculum. This is taught through the infusion of the principles of Ma’at – Truth * Justice * Reciprocity * Harmony * Balance * Order. Infusion of these virtues helps to instill, build and enhance students’ conduct and citizenship.
