Mission Statement
The Verve Danz Ensemble is an afterschool dance program created by Katina Mackey-Green in Fall 2007. The Mission of the Verve Danz Ensemble as a part of Khepera Charter School is to instruct students in the areas of Afrikan, Ballet, Jazz, Praise, and Hip-Hop Dance techniques while providing a safe haven for children in an educational environment. This program is designed for students in grades Kindergarten to 8th who have a high-level of interest in the performing arts. During the program, students are exposed to other genres of the performing arts to create a unique form of dance theatre. Through this art form students learn the value and meaning of discipline and body awareness while building self-esteem and self-confidence. Dance instruction culminates with an end of the year dance presentation/recital where students have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of dance as a vehicle for self-expression and storytelling. The goal of this program is to groom not only dancers, but well-rounded student performers.

Verve Danze Ensemble Company Information
The Verve Danz Ensemble is comprised of four different groups. These groups have been created to better meet the needs of the students entering the dance program. Students come into the program on various grades and skill levels. Thus, it became necessary to provide a space to group students accordingly.
- Intro to Danz Arts (K-1st)
- Junior Company (2nd-4th grade)
- Prep Company (4th-8th grade)
- Senior Company (4th-8th grade)

Classes begin on Saturday, October 10, 2009 @ 12:30 pm.
Rehearsal Times
Intro to the Arts- 12:30-2:30 pm
Junior Company-12:30-2:30 pm
Prep Company-12:30-3:00 pm
Apprentices-12:30-4:30 pm
Senior Compay-12:30-4:30 pm
Drop-off should be no earlier than 12:20 pm and students should be picked up promptly at the designated dismissal time for each group. All pick-ups 10 minutes after the dismissal time will be charged $10.
Friday classes for Apprentices and Senior Company members ONLY begin on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 3:30-5:30 pm.
